Bibliographic Instruction for VIVA Resources
Most VIVA resources do not have a simultaneous user limit, so bibliographic instruction does not present the risk of shutting out other users. Our vendors have provided the following information to assist VIVA member librarians in planning BI sessions.
For additional information about the vendor and products, click the vendor name.
- American Mathematical Society: Classes may be mistaken as spidering activity. If the class will be large, please email msn-support@ams.org with as much detail as possible about potential usage.
- American Psychological Association: Please email psycinfo@apa.org with the number of users who will be in the class and the date(s) the class will be held. Indicate that you are a VIVA member library.
- Association for Computing Machinery: Email issupport@acm.org with class times and the number of people who will be attending. Indicate that you are a VIVA member.
- Bowker: No notification necessary.
- Columbia University Press: It is not necessary for libraries to alert CUP when holding bibliographic instruction sessions for CIAO. Librarians interested in tutorials for CIAO should contact columbiaonline@columbia.edu.
- EBSCO: Restrictions for America: History & Life and Historical Abstracts only. Contact support@ebscohost.com prior to training.
- Gale Cengage Learning: No restrictions.
- IEEE: Limited simultaneous users. Please email onlinesupport@ieee.org (cc J.Vaitkus@ieee.org ) with the number of students who will be in the class so that the user limit can be increased accordingly. Notice a week in advance is most appreciated.
- Johns Hopkins University Press: No restrictions.
- Mergent: No need to contact prior to training.
- Nature Publishing Group: There is no need to alert Nature before training.
