RFP for Databases and E-Journal Provider(s)

(March 4 - July 1, 2005)

CSA has been awarded the contract for PAIS International and EconLit. This contract will officially begin on July 15, 2005, but the IP authentication is available now.

EBSCO has been awarded the contract for CINAHL, PsycINFO, PsycArticles, Eric, and Medline. This contract will begin on August 1, 2005, but access through the trial will continue in the interim.

Here is the proposed schedule for this RFP:

March 4: RFP released
April 7: Proposals due at 3 p.m.
April 8-20: RFP committee reviews proposals and determines finalists
April 8 - June 17: Trials available for all VIVA members
April 22: RFP Committee meets to score and select finalists
May 11: Vendor presentations at VCU
May 12: Resources for Users Committee meets
May 19: Evaluations due
May 20-24: Compile evaluations
May 25: Final scoring by RFP Committee
June 8: Tentative Resources for Users Committee meeting
June 9: Steering Committee meets
June 13 - 14: Final (in-person) negotiations
June 15: Target date for Award Announcement
August 1: Target date for the new services

• Evaluation Forms for the finalists have been completed. We had a very good response from VIVA institutions.

• Information on the May 11 Vendor Demonstrations at VCU.

• RFP Committee Members are: Sharon Gasser (Chair) (JMU), Gene Hyde (Radford), Mack Lundy (W&M), Jane Penner (UVA), Sylvia Rortvedt (NVCC), and Pat Van Zandt (W&M). Ex Officio members are Iris Moubray (JMU) (VIVA's Procurement Officer) and Kathy Perry (VIVA Director).

• Target Date for Award of the contract: Our goal is to award the contract(s) before July 1 and to have the service(s) begin on or before August 1, 2005.
