VIVA Libraries acquire immediate access to Mergent Online and Mergent Horizon

VIVA, The Virtual Library of Virginia, is pleased to announce immediate access to Mergent Online and Mergent Horizon, two financial-information databases for business and investment researchers. The databases are available immediately at all 39 Virginia public higher education institutions, including the entirety of the Virginia Community College System, and at a majority of VIVA’s private member institutions.

Mergent Corporation offers detailed financial information on domestic and international companies, pricing and terms of conditions data on fixed income and equity securities, and corporate action data.

• Mergent Online is a global business information source that permits users to locate basic company highlights, stock and shareholder information, equity price reports, earnings estimates, insider and institutional holdings, executive biographies and equity research reports.
• Mergent Horizon offers users a set of tools that blend information about companies, industries and products, allowing researchers to link companies with their brands, suppliers, competitors and examine financial performance measures across product and industry sectors. Mergent Horizon also offers in-depth, product-level coverage in the health care, technology, media and finance sectors.

VIVA is a consortium of the libraries of 73 non-profit research or higher education institutions in Virginia, including 39 state-assisted colleges and universities at 55 campuses within the Commonwealth of Virginia, 33 independent private, non-profit institutions, and The Library of Virginia. VIVA's mission is to provide, in an equitable, cooperative, and cost-effective manner,enhanced access to library and information resources for Virginia's academic libraries serving the non-profit higher education community.
