VIVA
The Virtual Library of Virginia
PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release (February 15, 2005):
VIVA, the Virtual Library of Virginia, is excited to announce access
to ENGnetBASE: Engineering Electronic Library. An electronic library
dealing with all areas of engineering from CRC Press, it contains 248
handbooks and other reference books. CRC Press is well-respected for
providing accurate and up-to-date resources for engineers. The handbooks
cover all engineering topics and can be searched and browsed by topic
and title.
The complete content of every handbook is searchable online including
charts, graphs, illustrations, and text. A user can search just an individual
handbook or all or part of the online collection. The blue bar on the
homepage has a “Search Our Site” box and a link to “How
it Works,” which concisely explains how to effectively search the
handbooks. The results are displayed by listing the handbook with the
most number of references to the search down to the smallest, including
the book title and authors. When users click on the link to see the handbook,
a new window opens which includes the table of contents and takes the
user to the first instance of search terms, highlighting the terms.
Faculty, researchers, and students will find ENGnetBASE useful because
it provides information that is current, comprehensive, and authoritative.
The coverage of the handbooks will assist researchers from across the
wide spectrum of engineering fields, from aerospace to nanotechnology
to operations research.
VIVA, the Virtual Library of Virginia, is a consortium of the libraries
of 69 non-profit institutions of higher education in Virginia, including
