PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: Fairfax, Virginia 4/11/02
VIVA, The Virtual Library of Virginia, has added to its extensive list of resources a collection of seven electronic journals from the American Mathematical Society, the leading U.S. professional association publisher of journals in pure and applied mathematics.
The seven titles are:
All subscriptions begin with volumes from 1996 or 1997.
Journal articles are available online immediately upon completion of the editing process, significantly pre-dating their publication in print. A special service allows readers to sign up for email notifications of new article postings in selected journals or subject areas at http://www.ams.org/jemail/ Articles are posted in PDF, DVI, TeX, and PostScript formats to allow maximum flexibility in viewing mathematical formulas and diagrams.
Readers may browse journal issues or input a query into one of two search modes, a quick search or a powerful advanced search that supports full Boolean search capabilities in multiple fields. In addition to complex search capabilities, the journal database features a "similar articles" option at the article level that performs a search for additional articles assigned to same combination of subject headings. Another particularly useful enhanced feature in this electronic journal database is the series of links from references in article bibliographies to corresponding review summaries in MathSciNet, the AMS index to mathematical publications. MathSciNet also provides links to AMS journal articles directly from citation entries retrieved in searches of the index. http://www.ams.org/mathscinet/
