II. Minutes
The minutes from the last meeting were approved.
III. Outreach Web Gateway
The committee reviewed the three gateway levels outlined at the October meeting: faculty and students, decision-makers, and the VIVA community.Jack Bales suggested adding the online journal locator to the links for faculty and students.Berna Heyman recommended changing "Announcements" to "New Resources."Ralph renamed "Publicity and Promotion" to "VIVA in the News." A new term for "testimonials" is also needed.
Ralph distributed a draft of the gateway section targeted to the VIVA community of member libraries. Since this information is extensive, Ralph suggested dividing this section into:
-
Policies guidelines and procedures
-
Facts and figures
-
Collection information for members
-
Directories and VIVA organizational structure
-
Technical information for members
The committee agreed to link to the VLA Legislative Action Center web page rather than undertaking the maintenance of a similar web page for VIVA members. <
Ralph will share the committee's recommendations with Kathy Perry and with John Duke, who is creating a dynamic database for the VIVA web page, before Patricia Hardesty does any further organization of this information.
