Chadwyck-Healey Poetry Analytics

Original authority work is being validated for every heading. Ed Summers (formerly of ODU) in N.Y. will convert all of the headings that have new original authority records and added author entries, and remove author headings for works that were found to be anonymous. Original authority work is complete and recorded on a spreadsheet that will be used for automatic conversion of headings and made available to libraries that have loaded the bibliographic records and prefer to make manual corrections. We need to find someone to download the authority records.

Guidelines

Subcommittee: Althea Aschmann (VPI), Elaine Day (JMU), Allison Sleeman (UVa), Karen Cary (VCU). Althea Aschmann agreed to serve as Editor, and will assume responsibility late summer. The major task to begin with is updating the examples. The guidelines are meant to document what various Virginia libraries are doing and possibilities, rather than be prescriptive. The guidelines are limited to discussion and illustration of MARC cataloging for electronic resources. Metadata standards can be addressed sometime in the future in another document.
