VIVA has access to the "Blackwell Collection" plus any titles that VIVA members subscribed to before we "made the deal" as a consortium. Journals that are transferred to Blackwell from other publishers or socieities will be charged at the actual number of subscriptions held by the members at the previous publisher or society. Institutions may continue print subscriptions for transfer titles at the Deeply Discounted Price which is 20% of the list price.

The "Blackwell Collection" does not contain:

1) titles that have ceased publication

2) titles that are no longer published by Blackwell (but were at some time in the past and so are still listed on Synergy)

3) society titles that began publication within the past five years (there are some exceptions to this, but this is the general rule)

4) those titles that are excluded completely by the society These "UNTOUCHABLE" titles (as of 2/2008) are:
ECTA - Econometrica
JACF - Journal of Applied Corporate Finance
SSPN - Soil Science and Plant Nutrition
AGEC - Agricultural Economics
CRIM/CPP Criminology and Criminology and Public Policy (it is a combined sub)
HUC - Human Cell
OET - Oil and Energy Trends
And any of the AAA journals.

5) new start titles (participating institutions can purchase on a title-by-title basis)

6) Compass titles (e.g., Literature Compass, Religion Compass)
