VIVA Shibboleth InstallFest |
Date: November 12, 2008 Time: 10 AM - 3 PM Location: Alumni Board Room, University of Virginia, Charlottesville VIVA has licensed close to 500 full length documentary video programs from PBS, all of which are now available via a centrally hosted streaming service. In order to take advantage of the streaming service, VIVA institutions will need to join the InCommon Federation and install the Shibboleth software on the network at their home campuses. The purpose of the InstallFest is 1) to provide technical assistance for schools who are prepared to launch the centrally hosted video streaming service on their campuses and 2) to assist VIVA members in determining what they need to do to gain access to the streaming videos on their campuses. This event is not intended for campuses who wish to host streaming videos on their own campuses by managing their own streaming services. Complete information about the VIVA PBS project is available at: http://sites.google.com/site/vivapbsstreamingvideofaq/ Participation will initially be limited to two individual from each institution, one representative from the library and one from the campus IT department. Additional attendees may be permitted as space allows. Those interested in attending should contact their library director.
